Christien Meindertsma
Born in 1980. Artist and product designer. Having both domestic and international clients, Meindertsma is known for her research-oriented work that explores the relationship of raw materials with their product. Some major works include Checked Baggage (2004), an exhaustive catalog of all items confiscated from travelers in a one-week period at Schipol airport; PIG 05049 (2007), which chronicles numerous consumer products made from a single pig; and Flax Chair (2015), a chair made out of woven linen and PLA (a biodegradable plastic) textile. Her works are in the collections of MoMA, Victoria and Albert Museum, and Vitra Design Museum.
